Patients are the centre of everything we do at RVH and our MY CARE philosophy puts patients and their families first. Always. Everyday. Without exception. Meet some of the members of our Care Team, and learn first hand how your donations impact the lifesaving work they do everyday.

Dr. Rania Hiram

Dr. Rania Hiram is a paediatrician and former Chief of Paediatrics at RVH. She has lived just outside of Barrie for nearly 20 years.

When she’s not at work caring for our region’s youngest patients, she’s busy with her own children or outdoors enjoying all that this region has to offer.

In honour of International Women’s Day, we did a Q&A with Dr. Hiram to learn more about her work and the impact that your donations can have on paediatric care at RVH.

Joline Bell

Joline Bell is an oncology nurse at the David & Catherine Hudson Regional Cancer Centre, helping patients with their chemotherapy treatments.

When Joline was in high school, her mom, a nurse, offered her some advice, “Don’t be a nurse. It takes over your whole life.”

She considered teaching for a moment, then applied to nursing school. Joline has spent her entire career in oncology. She’s been here at the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre at RVH since it opened in 2012.

Angie

Angeline is a Child and Youth Worker on RVH’s Child and Youth Mental Health Inpatient Unit. She has been with the program since the beginning, joining the inpatient team at the creation of the unit in late 2017. Every day, your donation is helping Angie and her colleagues improve the lives of our young patients in crisis.

For Angie, the most important part of the work she does is not just who she is helping, but also where.

Dr. Bishoy Deif

Cardiologists at RVH are used to seeing a rise in cardiac cases around this time of year. Holiday stress, and the physical tolls of winter like shovelling, results in more people needing care. Dr. Deif attends to many of the cardiac patients that come through the doors of RVH every day.

One of the most rewarding aspects of his job is knowing that his team’s skills and training are coming to the aid of someone when they need it most.
