Support Cancer Care in Honour of RUSH’s Neil Peart
When Neil Peart, the drummer of the iconic rock band RUSH, passed away in 2020, his family created the Peart Family Memorial Fund to support cancer care at RVH in his honour. While Neil died from glioblastoma, an aggressive cancer of the brain, he was not treated at RVH. His sister, Nancy Burkholder, and parents, Glen and Betty Peart are residents of Simcoe Muskoka and chose to support cancer care here in their own backyard in the name of their brother and son.
Neil was born in St. Catharines, Ontario in 1952. He joined Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee in the band RUSH in 1974 at the age of 22. The trio would go on to inspire legions of passionate fans around the world.
The money raised by the Peart Family Memorial Fund will continue Neil’s legacy by supporting the David and Catherine Hudson Regional Cancer Centre at RVH to help people with cancer in our community live life to its fullest, as Neil did.
