While McHappy Day may have ended on May 10th, the impact of funds raised by local McDonald’s restaurants will leave a lasting impression on patients and families of Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre’s (RVH) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Ronald McDonald House Toronto. An incredible total of over $53,000 was raised with RVH to receive fifty percent of the funds raised.

RVH’s NICU is original to the Georgian Drive facility and is long overdue to be modernized and expanded. A planned re-design and expansion of the NICU is coming to RVH and will give families additional space with more privacy to bond and heal, as well as updated and new specialized equipment for resuscitation, ventilation, and monitoring. Donations from generous community partners like McDonald’s play a vital role in realizing these plans.

“We are grateful for our long-standing partnership with Barrie McDonald’s franchise owners through important initiatives like McHappy Day,” says RVH Foundation CEO, Pamela Ross. “Because of their support—and the tremendous generosity of our community—we can continue to provide world-class, specialized care to our tiniest patients.”

Local McDonald’s restaurant owner/operators, Jason and Jennifer O’Neill, and Trevor McKee, recognize how essential this kind of compassionate care is to families in moments of crisis.

“Our customers understand the importance of supporting local and giving back to the community – we can’t thank them enough for helping us by supporting the McHappy Day fundraiser year after year,” says Trevor McKee, McDonald’s Restaurants owner/operator.

“Our teams worked very hard to create a magical day to support the future expansion of RVH’s NICU, and Ronald McDonald House Toronto – both of these organizations are vital to families when their children are facing life-changing medical issues,” says Jason O’Neill, McDonald’s Restaurants owner/operator.

Over the past 10 years, Barrie McDonald’s Restaurants have raised over $250,000 through fundraising initiatives like McHappy Day in support of RVH. Click here for more information on upcoming events and opportunities to continue fundraising efforts on behalf of RVH.
