During the month of May, we pay tribute to two groups of professionals who have a tremendous impact on the lives of people we love: doctors and nurses.
We’re extremely proud and grateful for the work of RVH’s doctors and nurses. They offer compassionate care to everyone who walks through the doors of the health centre and work tirelessly to help patients heal and recover.
We know this because many RVH patients will share their care stories through the My Care Hero program. In the last year alone, over 80 RVH care providers were honoured for their unwavering commitment to providing the best possible care. What an amazing gift—both to RVH care teams, and their patients.
So, if you’re looking for a way to honour an RVH doctor or nurse who made a difference in your life, please consider sharing your story or making a donation. SPOTLIGHT ON RVH NURSE, JOLINE BELL
Two New LINACs Arrive at RVH
Joline Bell (third from the left) has been working as an oncology nurse in the David and Catherine Hudson Regional Cancer Centre since it opened in 2012. Over the course of her career, Joline has witnessed tremendous advancements in cancer care: “When I first started, there were certain cancers that you automatically associated with the worst outcome. With new therapies and drugs, that’s no longer the case. Patients are now living with these kinds of cancers and living a long time.” Keep reading to find out how Joline and her incredible colleagues are delivering advanced cancer care to people in Simcoe Muskoka below.

MELCHIOR FAMILY FOUNDATION MAKES $1 MILLION GIFT!
Just this past week, we had the incredible honour of celebrating The Melchior Family Foundation’s $1 million gift to RVH. As Dino Melchior said: “For our communities to thrive, we must have our health. Family means everything to me, and I am extremely proud that this gift will help ensure that every family living in Simcoe Muskoka will have access to the healthcare they deserve, closer to home.” Thank you, Dino and the Melchior Family for helping all of us stay healthy and stay wild.
