Have you ever stopped to consider the impact you’ve had on the lives of people in your community? As I look back on everything we achieved together in 2023, I’m deeply grateful for your generosity.
In 2023, you accomplished some truly remarkable things. For example, you helped RVH obtain a new PET-CT scanner—the first and only one of its kind between Newmarket and Sudbury. This powerful piece of equipment will lead to better diagnostics and more personalized treatment plans for our patients resulting in better medical outcomes. Having a PET-CT at RVH also means less medical-related travel for people in our region so they can spend more time with their families and friends.
You also helped provide 11 new dialysis chairs for our community renal clinic, bringing comfort to patients who spend hours on dialysis every week. As well, thanks to your support, we were able to install four new donor-funded mammography machines, a vital, and often lifesaving, piece of equipment that can lead to more accurate diagnoses of breast cancer. You can see the new mammography machines at work in the feature below.
It’s no secret our healthcare system is under enormous strain. Our population is both growing and aging, which presents a number of challenges for the future.
But I’m confident that no matter what the future holds, we will rise to the occasion and continue to deliver world-class, specialized healthcare to everyone in our region.

Thanks to your support, patients like Scott, are able to live their Wild Life while receiving the care they need close to home.
You also help us respond to challenges as they arrive. For example, the number of patients treated at our David and Catherine Hudson Regional Cancer Centre has gone up by 30 percent since the beginning of the pandemic, while the amount of space has remained the same.
Your thoughtfulness provided flexible care spaces with options like moveable treatment recliners and a privacy screen, so there are no delays in treatment when space is limited.
Most of all, I want to thank you for your support of our Keep Life Wild campaign, which will expand the site in Barrie and build a brand-new healthcare facility in Innisfil. Enthusiastic support from our community is one of the keys to getting the ‘green light’ to proceed from the Ontario Ministry of Health. You’re a vital part of our bold vision for the future.
