Support Youth Mental Health Today

Many parents have spent the last several weeks getting their kids ready for back-to-school. New notebooks, pens, and pencils—each one a tool to help students reach their full potential in the classroom. Getting kids the items they need to succeed is the focus of this year’s RBC Race for the Kids which supports children at RVH on their path to better mental health. And you can help.

SUPPORT OUR KIDS’ MENTAL HEALTH

Did you know that in 2023, a staggering 75 percent of all health centre admissions for children aged 11 to 17 at RVH were related to mental health issues? With rising rates of anxiety, depression, and other conditions exacerbated by social media, school pressures, and the lingering effects of the pandemic, the need for robust mental health support has never been greater. As the only one of its kind in the region, RVH’s Child and Youth Mental Health program is a lifeline for many families.

Community support is crucial for maintaining world-class healthcare close to home. Playing for Connor, a home-grown community event that has raised vital funds and awareness for the Child and Youth Mental Health Program at RVH, is the perfect example of this. In eight years, they’ve raised more than $50,000 to directly support kids from Simcoe Muskoka in need of mental health care.
