A place to rest and heal
RVH’s Hudson Regional Cancer Centre provide world-class, life-saving care to patients from across Simcoe Muskoka and beyond. For those who have to travel a ways for care, RVH’s Rotary House Lodge provides a place to stay during treatment, a place to rest, and a place to heal. Jennifer Alton is just one of the many patients who have come to call Rotary House Lodge home, at least temporarily.
“Cancer is all-consuming. From the moment I was given the diagnosis, I felt consumed with what the news meant. The burden of day-to-day details of how I was going to attend 28 days of treatment, where I would stay, was lifted by the Rotary House Lodge program.
Quietly, they took care of all the important and overwhelming details of daily living so I could focus all my time and energy on the task at hand, my cancer diagnosis.
The compassionate nature of the Rotary House Lodge staff, with their efficient handling of all my housing and transportation needs, is reassuring and comforting. This program is like a warm blanket or hug when you need it most.
I wanted to raise funds for this vital program, so that other patients from out of town receiving treatment can do so with peace of mind.”
